Rejoova Eggs Formulation

Vitamin D3 — 50 mcg (2000 IU)/serving

Description: Vitamin D is a fat-soluble nutrient, found in cod liver oil, coldwater fish, butter, and egg yolks, known to be important for the immune system and overall health. Over the past decade, Vitamin D has been the focus of much attention, as it has become apparent that Vitamin D deficiency is surprisingly common. It is estimated that more than 35% of the US population is deficient. The increasing rate of Vitamin D deficiency is often attributed to people spending less time outdoors and covering up with sunscreen when they venture outside. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with suboptimal fertility and poor pregnancy outcomes. Researchers have documented a link between higher vitamin D levels and pregnancy rates, and it is known that low Vitamin D levels are common in women with PCOS. Also, studies have shown higher IVF pregnancy rates in women who are replete in Vitamin D.

Support for Dosage and Format: Rejoova Eggs provides 250% Daily Value of Vitamin D from Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). There are two major forms of vitamin D found in dietary supplements; Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol), which is derived from plants and fungi when they are exposed to UV radiation, and Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), which is the form of Vitamin D made by skin when it is exposed to sunlight. Although cholecalciferol and ergocalciferol are absorbed equally well, research shows that cholecalciferol is more effective in raising and maintaining vitamin D levels in your bloodstream.

NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) — 300 mg/serving

Description: NMN is a compound known as a nucleotide, which is a basic building block of nucleic acids, most notably RNA and DNA. It naturally occurs in a variety of foods, including avocados, broccoli, cabbage, tomatoes, and raw beef, and is also made in the body by chemical reactions involving B vitamins. NMN is found in every cell in the body, where it serves the vital role as a precursor for NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide). NAD is an essential coenzyme for chemical reactions that create cellular energy and maintain cellular health, and every cell is dependent on NAD to help regulate essential functions like DNA repair, gene expression, and cellular stress responses. NMN levels decrease as we age, and, as a result, NAD levels decline, which may contribute to health conditions associated with aging, including suboptimal egg quality. Research suggests that supplemental NMN helps to replenish NAD levels within cells, thereby promoting healthy cellular function throughout the body.

Support for Dosage: To date, most of the research on NMN has been done in animals. However, the limited research in humans suggests that dosages between 300 and 600 mg per day show benefit and are well-tolerated.

Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone) — 200 mg/serving

Description: CoQ10 is one of the most popular and most well-researched nutrients for preserving egg quality and female fertility. CoQ10 is a small molecule with powerful antioxidant activity, found in almost every cell in the body, including developing egg cells. Within the cell, CoQ10 plays a direct role in helping the mitochondria, often called the “powerhouse” of the cell, to produce energy required for all cellular functions. With age, the mitochondria becomes less efficient and CoQ10 levels decline, resulting in a reduction of energy production within the cell. In a fertility context, this decline in mitochondrial function leads to poor egg quality and premature ovarian aging. While CoQ10 occurs naturally in some foods, such as salmon, tuna, organ meats, and whole grains, it is difficult to get enough CoQ10 through diet alone and supplementing with CoQ10 is recommended to ensure cells have enough CoQ10 to support optimal energy production.

Dosage and Format Support: Supplemental CoQ10 is safe and well tolerated at daily doses exceeding 1,000 mg, and dosages as low as 50 mg per day are considered to provide some benefit. Supplemental CoQ10 comes in two forms: ubiquinone and ubiquinol. There is quite a bit of disagreement in the natural products industry about which form is better. Ubiquinol is the active form of CoQ10 and is believed to be more absorbable than ubiquinone, and for these reasons, some experts suggest taking ubiquinol. However, ubiquinone is many times more expensive than ubiquinone and nearly all of the studies showing benefit of CoQ10 supplementation for various health conditions have used ubiquinone, which suggests that supplemental ubiquinone produces desired results at a fraction of the cost. Rejoova Eggs contains ubiquinone, which is a suitable supplemental form of CoQ10.

Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) — 20 mg/serving

Description: PQQ is often called a “longevity” nutrient.  It is a B vitamin-like enzyme cofactor that helps to protect mitochondria, the energy powerhouse of the cell, from oxidative stress and promotes the generation of new mitochondria within cells. In a fertility context, the generation of new mitochondria is helpful for egg quality and ovarian function. PQQ has been found in various foods, including fermented soy products, green peppers, kiwi, parsley, tea, papaya, spinach, and celery. While the research into PQQ is still in its infancy, because humans do not synthesize PQQ, many people believe PQQ to be an essential nutrient, which means that we must obtain sufficient amounts of PQQ in our diet or via supplementation.

Support for Dosage: Data in humans on the use of supplemental PQQ is scarce. However, PQQ is a popular ingredient in dietary supplements, and is found in a range of daily doses, from 5 mg per day to more than 40 mg per day. Rejoova Eggs contains 20 mg per day, which is well within the range commonly found in dietary supplements.

R-Alpha Lipoic Acid — 15 mg/serving

Description: Alpha Lipoic Acid, or ALA, is a compound that plays a role in energy metabolism in the body. It has antioxidant-like activity that supports mitochondrial integrity, which may be helpful in promoting egg quality and ovarian function. Alpha-Lipoic Acid may be especially helpful for women with PCOS, as it may improve insulin sensitivity.

Support for Dosage and Format: There is very little human data on alpha lipoic acid to rely on to determine the most effective dose for improving egg quality. However, alpha lipoic acid is widespread in dietary supplements, and is well tolerated at daily doses ranging from 5 mg to over 100 mg. Rejoova Eggs includes R-alpha lipoic acid, which is the form naturally synthesized by the body, and the preferred supplemental form of alpha lipoic acid.

L-Carnitine Bitartrate — 300 mg/serving

Description:  L-carnitine is an amino acid that is naturally produced in the body, and is also found in foods such as meat, fish, and dairy products. L-carnitine helps the body convert fatty acids into energy, and is also an antioxidant. Research suggests a benefit of L-carnitine for improving egg quality by preventing oxidative damage and for improving insulin sensitivity in women with PCOS.

Support for Dosage and Format: There is very little human data on L-Carnitine to rely on to determine the most effective dose for improving egg quality and female fertility. However, L-Carnitine is widespread in dietary supplements, and is well tolerated at daily doses ranging from 50 mg/day to over 1,000 mg/day. Rejoova Eggs contains L-carnitine bitartrate, which is a salt of L-carnitine and tartaric acid. It is one of the most common forms of L-carnitine found in supplements.

N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) — 600 mg/serving

Description: NAC is a precursor to glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant. It also has powerful anti-inflammatory activity. With respect to female fertility, NAC is most well-studied in women with PCOS, where it has demonstrated the ability to support healthy ovulation by improving the insulin response. But, even for women without PCOS, the antioxidant activity of NAC is believed to support egg quality.

Support for Dosage: There is very little human data on NAC to rely on to determine the most effective dose for improving egg quality and female fertility. However, in a study of recurrent miscarriage, a dose of 600 mg per day was used. And, NAC is widespread in dietary supplements, with daily dosages of more than 1,000 mg per day being well tolerated.

Ovary Extract — 500 mg/serving

Description: Glandular therapy, i.e. supplementing with organ and gland extracts from animals, has long been an important form of medicine. The concept underlying the medicinal use of these substances is that “like heals like”. Therefore, supplementing with bovine ovary extract is believed to improve the function of the human ovaries.

Ovary extract is rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and other nutrients specific to ovaries. The ovary extract used in Rejoova Eggs is derived from grass-fed cows.

Support for Dosage: Commercially available products containing ovary extract include daily dosages in the range of 150 mg to approximately 1,000 mg. Rejoova Eggs includes 500 mg per day, an amount considered to be safe and effective.

Sha Yuan Zi Extract (Semen astragali complanati) — 500 mg/serving

Description: Sha Yuan Zi is a widely used traditional Chinese medicinal herb for treating muscle, liver, kidney, blood, skin and reproductive system conditions. For female fertility, Sha Yan Zi boosts a woman’s essence or jing, also known as her vitality and reproductive health. It contains flavonoids, organic acids, glycoside, and triterpenoids, all of which contribute to this herb’s therapeutic effectiveness.

More broadly, research suggests a possible role for Chinese herbal medicine in the treatment of PCOS. In one study, the addition of Chinese herbal medicine to clomiphene (Clomid) improved pregnancy rates in women with PCOS.

Additionaly, a Chinese herbal formula composed of 15 herbs known as Zi Shen Yu Tai Wan has been shown to be clinically effective for improving endometrial receptivity, reducing the chance of miscarriage, and for improving ovarian reserve.

Support for Dosage: Sha Yuan Zi is commonly used, but dosage amounts found in commercially available products vary significantly. Rejoova Eggs contains 500 mg per serving, an amount believed to be safe and effective.

Liver Extract — 500 mg/serving

Description: Liver extract, typically derived from bovine liver, is highly prized as a dietary supplement for its nutrient density and its ability to improve liver function. It is rich in heme iron, which is considered the most bioavailable form of iron. It also contains vitamin B12 and folic acid, both of which participate in building blood, maintaining a healthy nervous system, and increasing energy levels. The liver is the most important organ of metabolism, so when liver function improves, metabolism improves. An improved metabolism creates high energy levels and greater feelings of health and well-being. Because liver extracts are an effective way to improve liver function, supplementing with liver extracts is beneficial any time the body is depleted or under stress. For patients with fertility issues, supporting the liver is extremely important.

Liver extracts been recommended for patients with chronic liver disease since at least the late 1800s, and several studies have demonstrated an ability of liver extracts to promote hepatic (liver) regeneration (source: Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine, Murray and Pizzorno, 2nd edition, 1998).

Liver extracts are also popular among bodybuilders and athletes due to its anti-fatigue effects.

Support for Dosage: Commercially available products containing liver extract include dosages in the range of 150 mg to approximately 1,000 mg per serving. Rejoova Eggs includes 500 mg per day, an amount considered to be safe and effective.
